IT Technician

Overview

 

St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College are seeking to employ a full time IT Technician.

The candidate will work within a department that operates across 19 sites located around Bradford, support over 600 staff and 7000 pupils with 1800 workstations, Multiple servers, 160 IP cameras, 250 telephones, 30 proximity security points, 120 networked printers, 30 HP POE switches and Multiple site wide wireless system. Operating within a windows environment including Intune Management.

The key responsibilities concerning the post will be to provide an effective IT and AV related service for the College to include the effective running of the College’s systems including hardware, software, server and client operating systems, databases, email services, security access, CCTV administration, user identification, Wi-Fi, and the provision of advice and guidance to staff. The holder will be responsible for the maintenance of AV facilities including planning and development and smooth operation in all aspects. Working with the IT Management, the holder will assist in the planning of future developments to the College’s IT, AV, CCTV, telephony and security access infrastructure

Role Profile

The ICT Technician will support the effective operation of the IT and AVA services across the Trust, ensuring the smooth running of all systems including hardware, software, servers, networks, and security infrastructure. The role includes maintaining the Trust’s AV facilities and collaborating with Network Managers on future developments in IT, AVA, CCTV, telephony, and security access.

Under the direction of the Services Delivery Manager you will be expected to:

  • Support the development and implementation of the Trust's IT/AV Strategy.
  • Maintain IT/AV service contracts and manage licences.
  • Work within assigned IT/AV budgets
  • Ensure compliance with assigned IT/AV budgets.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all IT/AV hardware and software.
  • Support IT/AV security, group policies, and ensure data protection compliance.
  • Maintain and develop the Trust’s websites and learning platforms. Including Intranets
  • Operate and maintain CCTV, telephony, and access control systems.
  • Provide technical support to staff, assist apprentices, and liaise with external contractors when necessary.
  • Assist with new technology initiatives and Trust-wide IT projects.
  • To assist the IT managers in maintaining the confidential nature of information data relating to the College, its students, parents and carers.
  • Upkeep of all IT and AV equipment including related IT peripherals
  • To assist with the provision, administration and allocation of components and consumables.
  • With the authorisation of the Network Manager undertake purchasing of consumable equipment within College and for the returns of used recyclable consumables and AVA/IT items.
  • Under the direction of the Network Manager undertake the annual stock check of all IT and AV equipment in all areas of the College, including; allocation, re-allocating, cataloguing and entering into the asset management system.
  • To work towards raising the standards and improving the level of achievement by supporting the College’s IT and AVIT requirements, teaching and learning in all aspects of your role.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to all aspects of the role
  • Work through and respond to clients through the Halo ticketing system, following on SLA agreements.

 Server/Network

  • Office 365 administration. Librarian systems and MS databases. Wi-Fi management & topology. Administrate and troubleshoot the College’s CCTV, door security, and telephony systems.
  • Network equipment implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting as delegated by the IT Management team.

Desktop/Client

  • Install and maintain IT equipment, including advanced troubleshooting of hardware/software systems.
  • Installation and management of applications on Intune and other MDMs
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting diagnostics procedures for PC/Laptop hardware and software systems.

AV/IT Technical assistance and support for staff

  • Supporting and advising support staff and teachers across the trust, with a professional positive attitude.
  • Under the direction of the IT Management, administer the College’s IT/AV equipment booking system.
  • Organising the functional use, allocation, delegation and specification of the College’s AV equipment, software and systems
  • Providing support to any events that go on around the Trust including setting up and running Livestreams.
  • As directed by the IT Management provide AV support to all departments in College

Other

  • Maintenance and administration of College’s internal virtual learning environment and external websites.
  • Liaison with outside agencies and suppliers.
  • Maintenance of CCTV software and implementation, including gathering and collating CCTV in circumstances where requested by the Senior admin
  • Will be expected to undertake First Aid
  • St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College is a two site College – The IT department manages support for a multitude or primary schools located around West Yorkshire. The role holder should be aware that you may be asked to work on any site

Salary & Terms

NJC points 7 to 11 £24294 to £25979(pay award pending) All Year Round
