The Governors of The Holy Family Catholic School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Year Manager to join our existing team of highly skilled staff. Our Year Managers are part of the wider pastoral team who are critical in supporting the behaviour, learning and wellbeing of our students throughout their time with us at the school. Developing positive relationships with parents/carers and most importantly the students and being driven by high expectations of attitudes, behaviour and aspirations are key aspects of this. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing behaviour and wellbeing on a daily basis and liaising with a range of professionals to intervene and support effective strategies to maximise all learners’ chances to thrive in our school and beyond. We expect the successful candidate to demonstrate a visible commitment to the wider school mission of ensuring that we ‘awaken minds’ , ‘achieve dreams’ and ‘serve others’ . As such they would be expected to have full involvement with the wider aspects of school life and the local community.
1.Behaviour
- Use a range of information including academic, attendance and behaviour data to identify students needing additional support.
- Support with the behaviour management of the year group, responding to incidents and managing on-call requests.
- Develop and implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with staff.
- Take a lead role in developing behaviour strategies with relevant staff including SENDCo and SLT.
- Monitor and support reintegration following suspensions.
- Deal with all forms of bullying, liaising with DSL and SLT as needed.
- Ensure high behaviour standards through presence in corridors and across the school.
2. Learners
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with learners to support behaviour and engagement.
- Motivate students to promote self-esteem and positive behaviour.
- Support distressed and disengaged students with tailored strategies and mentoring.
- Determine needs for specialist support and liaise with colleagues to adapt provision.
- Coordinate and oversee work for suspended learners.
- Encourage participation in extracurricular and enrichment activities.
3.Safeguarding
- Maintain up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and act as a member of the safeguarding team where needed.
- Refer concerns to DSL and contribute to safeguarding planning.
- Ensure wellbeing is a high priority, making referrals and accessing internal/external support.
4.Communication and Record Keeping
- Establish productive relationships with parents/ carers, acting as a key liaison.
- Arrange and lead parental meetings around behaviour and attendance.
- Respond to parental enquiries and provide updates on student progress and wellbeing.
- Provide accurate reports and feedback on students for staff and external professionals.
- Maintain records of behaviour incidents, interventions, and parental contact.
- Facilitate and support parental engagement through events and workshops.
5.Organisation and Management
- Support transitions between schools and key stages, liaising with feeder/partner schools.
- Monitor systems related to attendance, punctuality, truancy, and engagement.
- Conduct home visits as needed to remove barriers to attendance.
- Work to ensure all students are equipped and prepared for learning daily.
- Actively promote attendance and punctuality across the year group.
- Organise rewards and celebrate success across the year group.
6. Other
- Participate in performance reviews and undertake relevant professional development.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times.
- Undertake other duties, including occasional evening work, as directed by senior staff.
